President Bush - I'm envious of soldiers
Bush: I'm envious of soldiers serving in Afghanistan
President Bush let his inner adventurer out while discussing the state of the war in Afghanistan with military and civilian personnel. While those in Afghanistan detailed the logistical and diplomatic problems via teleconference, the President took a much more whimsical approach to their mission. Via Reuters:"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."
"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.
Meanwhile, over 40 Taliban insurgents were killed in a battle in Southern Afghanistan, and six Afghani civilians were killed in a suicide bombing aimed at an American convoy.

This draft dodger had his chance to serve in a "romantic" adventure during Vietnam, but he chickened out.

Thank you!
Yeah, nothing was between him and combat in Vietnam but air and opportunity, and he damn sure wasn't interested then.

He had plenty of opportunities to serve his country the right way, but he used his privilege to get out of it. He sends thousands of people to war..so now he says 'I wish I could go'..trying to make you legacy look a little better are we Bushy!

Such bullshit. Our young men are losing their lives, their limbs and their minds fighting these wars. Exciting, romantic? I hate this guy. He only knows about war from what he sees in Hollywood productions (and I'm not talking about Saving Private Ryan). He (like most of Washington) is so out of touch with reality.

Romantic? These visions of war being 'romantic' or something 'manly' or 'exciting' will soon fade when the IED's explode and the complex attacks begin. They fade when you see your buddy blown to pieces before your eyes, civilians wailing in agony and sorrow as bloody carnage assaults your senses. There's nothing romantic or exciting about wondering when this is the day you'll finally meet your maker from a car bomb or suicide bomber, the day in and day out grind patrolling in 140 degree weather in full battle rattle.
What a tool indeed.

Maybe the draft dodger should have served his country when he had the chance about 30 years ago. But he was too busy getting drunk and snorting coke.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Funny how he starts a war, but has no desire to fight it.

Retarded fucker. I'd gladly have him exchange places with my ex-husband, who is right now recovering from a 9 hour surgery from where they pieced his leg back together after a bomb hit his vehicle in Afghanistan. He's had 5 surgeries in 4 days. I fucking HATE George Bush AND his dad.
