North Korea condemns UN sanctions
North Korea says UN sanctions imposed after its nuclear bomb test are a declaration of war, state media says.
Pyongyang also warned of "merciless" blows against any country infringing on its sovereignty, the official KCNA news agency reported.
There are reports of new activity at last week's test site, and South Korea and Japan say they have intelligence of a possible second test.
The US says air samples have confirmed the 9 October blast was nuclear.

If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.
I think they mean any country that tries to stop them from doing what they want, because the definition of a sovereign country is one who has the exclusive right to political authority over region or group of people.
No other countries are obliged to continue to trade with or aid N. Korea if they do not agree with their nuclear testing or regime. That's got nothing to do with their sovereignty IMO. They'll just make up any excuse to justify their threat.

That's exactly true, but I think NK sees the sanctions on them as an attack on them being able to develop their own nuclear weapons which they see as their right as a sovereign nation. I think they're looking for a fight really. They want to change the balance of power; to be seen as a world actor, and having nuclear capabilities will get that for them.
is it wrong that i am not scared of north korea one bit and that i think they're just doing this to provoke the world? i mean, it's not like they have anything to lose, their population is starving, they are cut off from the world and they don't have much of an economy. i think their bark is louder than their bite and i don't quite get why the whole world is in a tizzy over kim jong il and his antics.

^^ Nobody here in Busan gives a rat's ass. There aren't even military
maneuvers afoot; from my window I can see the airport, where the
ROK military has a number of planes and choppers parked, and they
aren't even doing drills.
Of course, technically, they imposed a ceasefire, not an end to the
war -- so SK & NK have been in a state of war since 1953,
even though the fighting has stopped.
