So basically, MM was manufactured from her appearance to her persona.

While I admit the complete process made her a beauty. I can't do the double standard. Fake is fake.

She reminds me a bit of Britney Spears... especially in the black and white photos.

I think her smile is what made her most spectacular looking, and that's not something you can doctor up.

Yes, you can fix teeth, but the overall shape is natural.

She looked young and very pretty in her last completed film "The Misfits" with Clark Gable.

Weight, what weight? That pic of her on the bed, she looks just perfect. Not a bony ass like most actresses these days.
beauty is only skin deep (where's the scalpel?)

The nose job and chin implant are common knowledge. No ifs, ands, or buts. However it is thought the chin implant dissolved over time.

She lost weight toward the end of her life. I think she looked better when she was healthier and heavier - very sexy, very feminine. Unlike her emaciated counterparts today.

These are some of the last photos taken of her before she died in 1962 (her last completed film The Misfits was 1961):

Someone asked about her makeup. There is a neat site here:

Me too. Above all I think that her death and the years that have passed have made her untouchable, in a way. Marilyn Monroe is the myth she is because she was so completely artificial, so perfectly tailored to appeal to the public and embody a kind of fantasy woman that doesn't really exist. Both her looks, her image and persona were manufactured and had little in common with the original person Norma Jean Baker.

If she had gone through this major transformation today, in the public eye, I think it's likely that she would have been ripped to shreds on this board.

well its also her life that people relate to and are inspired by; rags to riches stories do that to people. and then we always latch on to those we lost too soon too.

I've got nothing against a little plastic surgery tweak here or there as long it improves the person's appearance and looks natural. It's when people take it so far it actually looks plastic, and/or try to fix what isn't broken (Nicole Kidman for example) that I am bothered by it. Marilyn knew when to stop and still looked natural. I think most women, if they were guaranteed to go from plain jane to stunning with a nose job and chin implant, like Marilyn did, they would go for it. And I would admire the results.
