Those after photos of Minho were actually outted as being photoshopped by some anti-fans =/

I think it's hard to judge by high school pics if people have had surgery or not - many Korean schools are EXTREMELY strict about being uniform, girls not being allowed to wear any make up at all, no cool hair cuts, no hair dye of any kind, nothing. It's kind of weird looking at the performance videos of Korean bands because there are always hundreds of girls with no make up, the same hair cut, and the same uniform LOL

I agree with iLove. Everyone that undergoes plastic surgery does it to look more beautiful, in their eyes. It has nothing to do with looking more of one ethnicity or another. Double eye-lids is not a western feature. Asians happen to have double lids too, they just do not have the deep crease and bulging eyeball look. I've never seen Asians get surgeries to get the bulging deep crease look. Therefore, really they are not trying to look white...rather, just more beautiful. I am Asian and I have double eyelids and would not get surgery to make my crease deeper. I don't see my double eye lids as a white feature and I am 100% Hmong. I wouldn't mind having plastic surgery to look more beautiful.....but in trying to look more beautiful, I"m not trying to look more white.

Eurocentric is a good term for the ethnocentric perspective of some of the commenters in here. They seem to think that when Asians have plastic surgery, it's because we want to look white like you. I"m sorry, I actually do not believe whites are more beautiful than Asians. I believe it's in the individual and is not a race thing.

So in attempting to achieve a certain feature, it has nothing to do with looking white.

^ Personally, I happen to think most Asians get surgery to beautify themselves in order to look like other prettier Asians. Please bear in mind, though, some of the Asians who wanted surgery to appear more "white", whatever that means, probably grew up in a place with few or no Asians, perhaps racially teased and developed a sense of self-loathing over their appearance.

I do agree with you regarding the strict policies of no make-up, hair rules and whatnot in Korean schools. However, one of my good friends who immigrated from South Korea told me it has become common practice for hs/university students to have surgery during their holiday breaks. My friend also told me of the intense pressure to change her appearance by family members in order to gain better social and job prospects. Appearance is very important over there. I think my friend is beautiful just the way she is.

I'm a Korean guy and I think it's kind of funny that people think Asians have eye surgery to look Western. I know lots of Koreans who have great features without having had surgery. I actually had a double eyelid on one eye and a single eyelid on the other (Always looked like I was winking) so I actually got surgery to even my eyes out. The thing about Asian genetics (When it comes to eyes), family members can have different shaped eyelids depending on the fat in their eyelids. My mom actually had the same problem as I did but she got really sick back in the day and her single eyelid turned into a double. She was hoping for the same for me but after 18 years, it never happened hence the surgery.
