About 20 years ago, she suffered some problems that were never fully revealed. No way would it be able to be suppressed in today's info world. Looking back, I think she had problems with implants and weight, and chose to be skinny, which people in her position can easily do. I could stand to age wrinkle wise, but the weight really bothers me. A lot of my friends feel the same. We don't mind looking older, but being 2-3 sizes larger is the absolute pits because combined with looking older it just seems overwhelming at times.
I think Dolly looks good in the most recent video, but it's true there is a lot of makeup and stylin goin on there.

I believe she had a hystorectomy in the eighties and she was quite ill for a while from complications. At least, that was the story then.

^Exactly. She's had a lot of mental problems because of it - long time depression etc. and it affected her weight.

We all love Dolly & her kin 'round this neck o' the woods. On top of being one smart cookie, she's a very, very kind and giving soul.
Dolly gets a kick out of people getting a kick outta her.

Yes, and she was one of a very select and elite few who could bring Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) out of the woodwork. Both excellent songwriters. He was on his way to do studio work with her when he was ridiculously detained by the U.S. government. And no, I'm not getting into any ridiculous discussions about THAT.

Wow, she was quite the beauty at one time. I have always seen her looking the way she does now, totally overdone and artificial. She seems happy enough though..

^Unfortunately, today, a large amount of the songs in her tours are mimed.

I saw her in Birmingham earlier this year and I didn't notice any miming - we were very close to the front and I always look for it but saw none. She was fabulous, and did a couple of songs a capella and the voice was still pretty spectacular. Admittedly the show was quite short and she wore some really nasty yellow trousers, but she was brilliant, well worth the sixty quid.

^9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You are a good example of mimed songs from her tour. I didn't watch all of it.
She didn't use screens because she didn't want anyone to notice her miming. And yes, her voice still sounds great.

Still not convinced, but can only speak for the one show I saw from about five rows from the front. You are right though, there were no screens - I thought it was because she would frighten small children and old people in a 40' close up.

Just look at the youtube vids from the tour - you'll see that she sounds completely the same in all dates, at certain songs.

Hmm..... I saw her back in November 2005 and she did not appear to be miming (though even if she was I would still love her).
