Plastic surgery fan Star Jones says real beauty is more than skin deep

Fresh from breast-lift surgery, Star Jones said yesterday that beauty is more than skin deep.
Speaking to the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, N.J., the co-host of ABC's "The View" said faith is more important than face-lifts.

"Beauty, wealth and success mean little if you have not developed a relationship with God," she said. "I've learned that a relationship with God is achieved through solitude, meditation, prayer and soul-searching, and - above all - patience."

Jones, 44, who once tipped the scales at 300 pounds, has lost about 150 pounds in recent years. She acknowledged having a breast-lift last month, but denied reports the surgery almost cost her her life.

However, a 911 call released after her surgery suggested Jones, who is anemic, began bleeding on the operating table.

Jones, who was raised in Trenton, returned to "The View" last week after recuperating from the surgery.

The shrinking talk show host has steadfastly refused to disclose exactly how she shed the pounds, though there have been reports she underwent gastric bypass surgery.

Jones signed copies of her book "Shine: A Physical, Emotional, & Spiritual Journey to Finding Love" for churchgoers yesterday.

nearly dies in surgery for a boob lift.
