Nothing wrong with being a stripper. Some of the coolest women I know are in burlesque. But nowadays, burlesque IS a far cry from a tweaker chick pole dancing at a truck stop tittie bar.
The "look" with which Dita happens to be obsessed is basically an upper-class glam look from the 40's-50's, but then she puts it in the stripper context which makes me chuckle. I've always thought she's kinda doing Joan Bennett or Gene Tierney...as a burlesque dancer. It's an odd synthesis but it works for her IMO. She does owe a LOT to Bettie Page, too.
I don't know that she's really all that stuck up. Sometimes she just seems awkward, in interviews for instance. Not a very open, comfortable person. But I do like this quote from her: "I'm really just a freckled blonde from Michigan." Which is true.
