I wondered that too.... I assumed it was a nanny, but it could just be a friend that wanted to hold her.

That other lady is carrying what seems to be all the baby's stuff as well as the baby. And they seem to be dressed for cool/cold weather, yet the baby has it's legs exposed. I feel bad for this baby. Are foreign adopted babies going to be the new chihuahua fashion accessory?

that picture just really bothers me! If I had a new baby girl, I'd be holding her and giving her lots of hugs and kisses! I wouldn't pass her off to a nanny!!

Tons of Americans are adopting Chinese girls because there are tons of them to adopt, and girls aren't very popular in China. A lot are doing it because they think the "unwanted girls" thing is so terrible. A friend of mine was considering it for that reason. It's not the worst reason for adopting from a particular country, IMO.

I agree... if I were a celebrity adopting a child, you can bet the first public pictures of me with the baby would involve me holding the baby, with no nannies in sight.
