Sir Elton John has 'married' his partner David Furnish.

The couple had a civil partnership ceremony at the Guildhall in Windsor.

Sir Elton wore a black suit with diamond pin to the ceremony.

The couple will celebrate with a party at Sir Elton's nearby mansion due to be attended by over 700 celebrity friends.

Later in the day, the couple will throw a lavish star-studded party, costing an estimated $1.75 million, according to The Associated Press.

Two giant white tents have been erected in the grounds of the pop star's Windsor mansion for the party, which British tabloids say will be heated adequately to warm the hundreds of guests in scanty evening gowns.

Sir Elton John fears his wedding to David Furnish will be hijacked by anti-gay protesters later today and has hired an army of undercover cops to police the occasion.

The hitmaker was horrified when Northern Ireland's first gay civil unions were marred by demonstrating Christian fundamentalist groups earlier this week, and has determined not to let anyone ruin his special day.

A police insider tells British newspaper The Sun, "We don't want a hint of trouble. Even just anyone trying to throw an egg."

I'm so jealous of David, but CONGRATULATIONS to both of them!

Yay!!! I love Elton John. I wonder if he sang "Your Song" to David? Speaking of which, I'm gonna go listen to that and "Island Girl" in a be-lated celebration.
