Clive was a fan favorite to replace Bond, though I don't know if the studio ever considered him for the role.

daniel craig makes an awesome bond. sooo much better than pierce brosnan. i'm a fan of the old ones but i had given up on bond until i saw casino royale.

You know, I thought Daniel Craig was extremely hot for an older guy, but was HIGHLY disappointed when I found out he's ONLY 39 years old. LOL... I would have bet money he was in his mid to late 40's.
I can only imagine what he's going to look like when he actually is that old
