Call me over-protective, but I would be terrified of a strap snapping and that baby hitting the ground. I'd at least have to have a hand under it.

That is one tatty sweater she's wearing. The sling thing is ok though, people have been using variations on that for 100's of years. And how did she lose the weight so quickly?

I mean if this thing is on the market and if many people use it it must be safe, but every time I see one it horrifies me, I could never ever use it

I used a sling for a few weeks. They are all one piece so there's nothing to come undone. That said, I don't think I'd have taken a newborn out in the type of weather that causes the parents to wear coats and hats!
