that kimono must be worth thousands of dollards, but it's sooo out of place at the oscars.

I just want to thank StayYoung&Pretty for posting these photos.
I'm so proud of this man. He's from my hometown in Japan. He's been through a lot, when I was young, I remember he was diagnosed with leukemia. I didn't think he was going to make it then but I'm just so happy for his international success and getting his health back. Go Ken!

Ken Watanabe was born on October 21, 1959 in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. In 1978, he came to Tokyo to pursue his career as an actor. He drew an attention of the critics when Yukio Ninagawa, a famous Japanese director, chose him for the lead role in one of his plays even though he was still an acting student. He made his first TV appearance in 1982 but his real career breakthrough came when he was chosen to play the lead in the Japanese national TV drama series called "Dokugan ryu Masamune"; he played a samurai leader hero, that made him a household name in Japan. In 1989 when he was shooting a movie in Canada, he collapsed because of Leukemia. He made a miraculous comeback and in 2003 "_The Last Samurai_ " where he co-starred with Tom Cruise pushed him to a center stage of Hollywood. "The Last Samurai" is his 15th movie. He is a fanatic fan of Hanshin Tigers (Japanese professional baseball team) and Kobe Steel rugby team. He loves noodles.

Ken Watanabe (I) - Biography
I think the kimono is very nice. It is now usually worn for special occasions. I'll probablly wear one for my wedding

The kimono is lovely.

I think he looks great and I loved his tux with the detail on it. Very different than what every other man wore, yet still very classy. I also think that the kimono was brave to wear and very appropriate for her. She looks beautiful in it.

This actor is wonderful, I really like him!
I also like his wife and I don't find her to be out of place with the kimono: I would wear one if I could :-)
