Her mother is Filipina and her dad is American, iirc. The story is that her father was in the military and met her mother in the Philipines. Once they came back to America and her mother had Vanessa and her brother, the mom split without looking back. She was raised by her father and his family. Her mom tried to get in touch with her a few years back, but Vanessa wants nothing to do with her.
