She is a former Miss Teen USA from Massachusettes. When she won she had very curly hair of a lighter color.

    Hahah!! That's funny.
Why are there so many fly-by-nite actors? What do they end up doing after their 5 minutes to fame? I would be so devastated!

FYI the word 'beaner' is a derogatory racial slur to describe a Mexican. It's no different than calling a person a "wet-back". Both are derogatory terms used to describe Mexican immigrants in a negative manner. It's like calling a black person the 'n' word or a white person a 'cracker'.

And for the record, Susie Castillo is NOT a 'beaner'--meaning of Mexican heritage. She is Dominican and Puerto Rican. She is of Carribean descent, not Mexican.

Oh, oops! I was laughing cause I thought "beaner" meant something like the "smaller version of" the original. For example, my friend use to call her lil' sis that, in a kidding manner. And they weren't Mexican...

^ Exactly, they AREN'T Mexican. You call ANYONE a 'beaner' here and you're looking for a fight and that's because there are a lot of Mexicans here in the southwest. A lot of caucasian people in this area call people of hispanic decent 'beaners' or 'wetbacks'. It's a stereotype that Mexicans from across the border eat a lot of frijoles or beans. It's a putdown and often times used maliciously. There's nothing 'cute' or funny about it to the Mexican or Mexican-American.

A lady at work made a comment about 'beaners' (just joking) and they called her into the office because a few people complained about it. She was counseled and told it was a racial slur and she couldn't say it at work. But she would also use colorful words to describe gay people. So she had a history of being somewhat insensitive and using terms that might be potentially offensive to people.

I see what you mean Pretty Girl. I agree that since we're definately in the SW, and it's very likely it stems from what you've explained.

I always took it as like "small fry" or "beaner" meaning "wee one" or "little one". That's how I took b/c it was said in a condescending, but loving manner to her lil' sis.
