Somehow I think they're held hostage by the grey men of the palace

I didn't expect anyone to be interested in Japanese royal family...(I'm a Jappper so it's sort of a pleasant surprise).

Well, they're a nice-looking family. The daughter is adorable.

I don't agree. I think he really loves her and has proven to be a great husband and father.
He stood up for her against the IHA and his parents, and that is a HUGE thing in Japan!

This little girl is really cute...she should be Japan's next empress since she is the firstborn child of the oldest son but I guess the baby born born last week (this little girl's cousin) is considered superior because he's male...not cool.

I agree. I'm sad and disappointed that this intelligent, elegant, vibrant woman has been crushed by the rigid formality of life in the Japanese court. I believe she suffers badly from depression and finds the stifling restrictions of what she is allowed, and not allowed to do in her public and private life completely overwhelming. They may look 'cute' but I sense a lot of sadness and frustration there too. She's also had to deal with the immense pressure of producing a son and heir but has 'only' had a daughter which only adds to it. I remember when she married the Crown Prince everyone hoped she might bring a breath of fresh air to the royal family but it seems the 'men in grey' have won.

I wonder if the two princesses (Masako and Kiko) like each other or if the two sister-in-laws had a rivalry as to who would produce the first male heir....

This little girl Princess Aiko is adorable...she is the firstborn daughter of the oldest son and deserves to be empress. It's messed up that she's not considered as valuable because she's not a boy and that the Japan's throne will go to the OTHER son's child because he had the son...no wonder this poor woman is depressed. She must feel as if she failed her husband even though yes, it's the man who determines the sex of a child!! Things like this put a lot of stress on women and cause bad feelings among the family I'm sure. No wonder throughout history royal family members would kill and betray each other over birthrights throughout history! Crazy!

Kiko was preggers last time I was in Japan (May). Didn't know the sex of the baby then but I think she is trying for a son, I do sense rivalry between them. I'm team Kiko though...she's always smiling and looking happy and her hubby is way better looking than the prince.

I remember when they got married. I go nuts for traditional weddings. Their clothes, the decorations, love it.

Princess Kiko left Tokyo's Aiiku Hospital on Friday with newborn Prince Hisahito after the delivery of her first son on Sept. 6.
