Naturally fair skin, good SPF products. Not tanning actively, wearing hats and covering up when in the sun. Dark hair and make-up to bring out the pallor by contrast. That's all.

I love her look. I think pale is pretty. I'm pale myself, and I look like an idiot if I tan - reddish and unwashed rather than golden and pretty - so I don't; it simply isn't a look that works for me, and I bet it doesn't work for Dita either. I appreciate the sun goddess look on people who pull it off, but I'm just not one of them.

So she works with what she's got - why not? Shouldn't we all?

That aside, I'd love that suit without the huge black bow, and I'd love the huge black bow on a plainer outfit that would let the bow play first fiddle - but as it is, it's just a bit much. One detail too many.

I just don't think she has a pretty face. The way she packages herself is fantastic, but I wouldn't call her a raving beauty.

Regarding her lack of color, I believe she's naturally blonde. I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. I'm naturally blonde and very fair too; I once had my hair dyed black, and I looked like a corpse. I was going for Snow White.

The more times I see Dita, the less pretty she gets. I don't understand it!

I used to think she was gorgeous, now she just looks like the crazy chic who has WAY too much makeup on that you always see waiting for the bus at the corner. She always gets off at the library or something and disappears inside to lord knows where. You never see her actually leave the library, but she magically appears again each morning with crazy makeup, waiting for the bus at the corner. One day you decide to visit the library and as you walk around the corner of a shelf in the dankest, darkest, creepiest part of the stacks, crazy makeup chic suddenly comes from nowhere and scares the bejeesus out of you because you mistake her for a ghost of a librarian who was killed by a falling copy of the Gutenberg Bible. You die from fear and your ghost forever haunts the stacks, throwing ghostly Gutenberg Bibles at unsuspecting patrons. And the crazy makeup lady still waits each morning for the bus at the corner of the street.

That's what Dita reminds me of.

And are those close-toed sheer stockings that she's wearing with open-toed shoes? Oh noes!

[edit]: OK, I just looked again and they appear to be those little booties that you wear when you can't wear socks, pantyhose, or knee-highs with something, but you still want to put something over your feet. I never understood the point in those things. They never stay up and you might as well just go with your feet unadorned. In light of that, DOUBLE OH NOES!!!

There are some pics of her almost naked in Vanity Fair, Sept 2005 (the one with Betrayed But Not Bitter Jennifer Aniston on the front cover). Dita's bod is as pale as her face and apparently flawless but I'm thinking Dr Airbrush lent a helping hand. Not sure if VF have online archive pics. I'll go and have a look.
