I am a foster mother to a few dogs and just got a poodle in. I've never had one before and can not believe how smart and silly mine is. She was the product of a puppy mill, then used for breeding, then tossed away when she was not of use to the asshole breeding her anymore. She ended up in a high kill shelter and had a couple of days left to live before we came in and rescued her.

She didn't know how to climb stairs or interact with people. She also had to have all but 4 teeth removed because she had serious decay. None of this has stopped her from being one of the best dogs I have ever fostered. She's going up stairs with no problem, plays, dances, loves baths and is learning to eat despite not having her teeth anymore. I just love the girl.

She looks just like yours now that I've cleaned her up and gave her the chance she deserved in life

I have two cats -- a brown tabby and an orange tabby and two beagles -- a blue tick and tri-color. They are all rescue animals. The two beagles can drive me nuts sometimes when they get on a scent outside and just about pull my arm out of its socket, but they are the sweetest dogs and I just love them to death. My smallest kitty -- she's only 7 lbs, rules the roost and puts everyone in their places, especially the dogs. It's comical. She only needs to lift her paw and the dogs scramble.

We lost two cats over the past year -- our 20 year old grandma kitty and our 5 year old who had advanced kidney disease, which she probably picked up from drinking anti-freeze when she was a stray. So sad.

Guarding our gaudy, fake, x-mas tree.

She wouldn't wear the Santa hat for pics (it had a ball on the end of it that kept distracting her) so we put red x-mas ribbons on her ears, just for the photo op.

just made this picture. they look like they'd have the biggest hangover ever, no?

Butch, the English Bullterrier on the left side of the picture is unfortunately very ill; he's diagnosed with initial stage of cirrhosis of the liver (I wrote that in the prayer thread, thank you very much for everyone that kept thinking of him). The doctors said he'd only have a few weeks to live. But he lives with that diagnosis since July, and he still is fine! He has his ups and downs; isn't allowed to eat proteins or fats at all that's why he lost an extreme amount of weight - but he still is fine! Very very vital! We are so pleased that he is still here with us.

Thank you very much Honey! The white one in the front is Daphne (called Daphi) she's a rescue dog from Kreta and now ca 6 years old. And the other one is Chili, my Bulldog/Malinos mix, now 4 years old. (Butch and Daphi are actually my boyfriend's dogs, but we live as a patchwork family )

Funky, there is nothing like a heap of doggies! They are all so cute! So glad Butch is hanging in there. What are you having to feed him & how do you manage with 2 others on regular diet?

He gets special diet food that you can only by at the vets... thank god it's not too expensive. It works quite well with the other two dogs; three food bowls, three different types of dog food and one human running around and trying to make every dog stay at his own food bowl

Unfortunately Butch isn't very well since two days now. The doctor had to puncture his belly again - another 5 liters of whater, that's 1/4 of his total body weight. Now he's a little lethartic and doesn't eat well.

We really hope he recovers again. But we know he fighted very hard for quite a long time now...
