Somehow your pics don't show up because the link is connected to an "empty" 1x1 pixel gif.....

My loves are both rescues... A border collie/lab mix named Rudolf and a fluffy calico kitty named Phyllis. They're both supremely lazy, and love to: 1) eat, and 2) shed.

My husband and I just adopted a 4.5 year old female calico cat from the shelter They got really excited when we told them we wanted an adult cat rather than a kitten, because so many people aren't interested in the older cats. Our new baby is a sweet girl and a complete lap cat. She is more affectionate than most dogs I've seen and LOVES attention, but is also content to just chill under the bed.

Just wanted to update y'all on our sweet cat. She is currently learning to use the toilet. Training her has been easier than I expected and I'm excited to not have to deal with litter boxes anymore.

She seems very happy here. We've gotten her a few toys and she ignored all of them until we got her a stuffed mouse. She loves to bat it around and "capture" it. The other day I also caught her admiring her reflection in the full length mirror in our bedroom. Lately her favorite thing to do is to sit in front of the mirror striking different poses.

I'm really happy that we went with an older cat as opposed to a kitten because she is such a sweet girl and it breaks my heart to know that she'd been in the shelter for over a year because no one was interested in taking an adult cat.

awww she's a little sweetheart! I think it's so wonderful that you adopted an adult cat. Did you have any trouble when you first brought her home? My cat was a year and a half when I adopted him and he wanted nothing to do with us for a good 4-6 weeks. I was nervous that he would spray everywhere but luckily he did not

Her name is Spooky....black cat, born on Halloween...name fits. Besides she is possibly the most skiddish cat on the planet.

She has just a teeny tiny bit of white under her chin, but black...
    She's my sweetie.
ok so I realize this post is from 2005 but I had to comment that I have a black kitty named Spooky too

We actually did not have any problems with her adjusting! I think she was just so happy to have a home. Right from the start, she seemed very happy to be here and was constantly coming up to us to cuddle. She does get nervous when people come over, but she has always been very loving and affectionate with us and also took to her litter box right away. She even understands that night time is "quiet time" and she curls up either on our bed or on a chair in our room when we get in bed. She doesn't make any noise or move around until she realizes that we're awake in the morning, at which point she will come up to us and make a little chirp/trilling noise as she rubs her face against us for petting.
