I can't believe this. We had to put our girl Gwenie down at the same age 2 years ago because of spleen cancer. My poor boy was so energetic and fun, and now he won't even eat his kibble.

I'm getting married in 12 days and this has absolutely gutted me. My mom called me from work saying she can't go on. I know that sounds dramatic, but he was our best friend for 11 years.

Any kind words would help me at this point. This is my boy:

Aaawwww, what a sweet old, handsome boy. Of course you will miss him, he's been part of your family for so long! But if his future would be only to suffer with no cure in sight then there's only one thing left to do, even if the timing of it all is so unfortunate. But bad news always comes at the wrong time, so.....
    Wishing you strength.

I'm so sorry. It's a horrible pain all us animal nuts put ourselves through. Cry your heart out and feel sad, all you want. It does get easier - you'll have your wedding to focus on and he will be watching over you that day.. thanking you for doing what was right for him..for the many years you did it.

I'm so sorry. Pete's such a handsome boy. I know your heart is breaking, but it sounds like you're making the right decision.

I lost my Josie girl to cancer right after she turned 11. She had tumors on her spleen, liver and adrenal gland. It was spreading rapidly and we made the choice to give her one last night at home and spoil her rotten. She wouldn't eat so we offered her anything she wanted. Canned cat food, ice cream, etc.

It was one of the hardest things I ever did and I'm crying now just thinking about it.

Oh FV, I am very sorry for you and your mom. It may be the right decision but it is a damn sad one. Hugs to you.

I am so sorry. What a sweet doggy. Many of us here have had to put a pet down so we know what you are going through. *hugs*

Thank you so much, everyone. He's gone, he went peacefully and our vet was so kind. My mom is in bits, and I'm totally in shock. It hasn't really hit me yet, but it will.

That is the most you could have hoped for. That dog was well loved every second he was with you and knew it. My sympathy is with you and your Mother.
