    UPDATE:

She is not doing well. Her blood levels have dropped and her body is showing no sign of producing red blood cells on its own. Though nothing has happened to her yet, he situation is grave...

    I am in tears...

She will have surgery to remove the foreign object just in case its what's causing the problem. But there is a good chance she won't make it through the surgery.

UPDATE: The vet called this morning and said I'd be getting a refund from Daisy's surgery- a $1.30 refund. Seems Daisy decided to swallow 5 quarters and nickel. Oddly enough, the coins were in a perfect stack, as if she'd been fed the coins that way. Now, I know that is simply not possible so how they got that way, no one is sure.

Daisy made it through the surgery and transfusion and is stable. The vet's office and I have been frantically doing research on copper/nickel poisoning in dogs. Ironically, if it had been pennies she ate, her low blood red blood cell count would make senses since zinc poisoning presents the symptoms she's having.

I visited Daisy after work and she was up and around, yet very groggy. She also went outside and peed a bunch. LOL! Saw the coins she ate and I've never seen coins that color ever. The vet is cautiously optimistic about her recovery since her PVC levels have increased! But, she is by no means in the clear.

FYI, to anyone who owns a Greyhound, you have the perfect donor for blood transfusions. Daisy's blood came from a donor Greyhound today, and it is part of the reason she's got elevated levels. Greyhounds have blood with naturally high PVC values.
