I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you and I know how difficult it will be Saturday, but she will need you to be strong for her and see her off with loving words and touches. Then, you can cry. Eventually the tears will stop and the beautiful memories will take over. Truly, they will. Hugs to you and Gwendolyn.

I am so sorry, I know what you're going through. Spoil the heck out of her and cuddle her as much as you can.

you are so right on this. its only been 3 weeks since my Monkey died (my cat) and it is getting easier every day. Not to say i'm not sad, or i dont cry, because i do. However, i can actually go to sleep at night a little easier and i can smile when i think of her. I'm sorry FV, this is a very tough time for you. xoxo

Really? I cry every single day for my Lulu belle. I hope one day I can remember the good times without tears, but now even the good times cause weeping.

I still cry, Scooter...the thoughts of the good times sometimes make me cry, but they also make me laugh You'll get better, I promise.

    FV, I hope you're OK

I am so sorry. I remember standing over my old cocker spaniel as he was put to sleep in 1997. It was one of the most painful days of my life. What joy and heartbreak to love a pet!

i keep in mind how thin and sickly my cat was before she died, or how she could barely walk. I miss her desperately, but i also know she's better off. I just cannot make it all about me, or I'll go insane.

I'm so sorry for you to have to go through this. We went through something similar with our 7 year old Pit Bull mix. Losing a pet is never easy, especially when it's before their time. My best to you.

My heart is just breaking for you I agree with Grimmlok, enjoy your last few days and try to put the inevitable out of your mind until it's time. She's just beautiful and I bet she feels she had a full, wonderful life even though it's been cut short. If she had a choice she'd do it all again with you. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Pain is the price we pay for love.

It really is...I mean, we all go into this beautiful relationship with a pet knowing the outcome. It's such a pure love that (as painful as it can be) is so worth it.

^^^^That is the best way to describe love with a pet: pure. It's the reason that non-animal devotees just don't get when they can't comprehend how someone can be so distraught and despondent over losing a pet. They offer the safest kind of love there is and they never break your heart unless they die. I'm aware that parents of human children love those kids unconditionally, but I dare say that an animal (and hopefully your mother if she is a good one) is the only thing that ever really loves you unconditionally. That's why people who may have difficulty trusting and bonding with other people can just fall so totally in love with an animal.

    So sorry that this happened.

She sounds like a great dog, and you are a wonderful owner.

Because of your love, compassion and respect for her, you are doing the right thing.
