That doesn't sound like most pounds I know about. It's very unprofessional. Some pounds only keep animals 3 days, but most people at shelters know very well that a lot of people get rid of dogs for all kinds of stupid reasons that have nothing to do with the animals.

For example, I was visiting the local no-kill shelter and a beautiful Siamese cat of about 6 months old was brought back because it "meowed." Turns out the people had taken it home and dumped it in the back yard with no effort to befriend it or feed it or anything. Then when it meowed because it was hungry and scared, it was a "bad" cat and they took it back to the pound. Stupid asses like this are everywhere. The only reason they were allowed to adopt it in the first place was because a new volunteer didn't do the proper checks.

How do you know she actually did this? Did she admit it to you?

SY, mabe you can place an ad online to see if anyone is interested in adopting him? Instead of the poor thing going to the pound?

Well, the woman who worked at the pound where I adopted my doggie, she told me a few freaking things:
    - I'm taking it back here: it's grown up
    - I don't want it anymore: I've bough the burglar alarm now
    - why are you adopting this dog? He's old! Why don't you adopt a new one?
    - this is my pitbull, I don't want him anymore, he's becoming too aggressive. He costed me 500,00 euros but... it's freee for you!

Nope. We live in different states for a start, and the other reason is i already have a dog- i want more but its the costs- the vet bills are ridiculous. Otherwise I'd have 100 dogs.

it saddens me when people get dogs or cats and just abandon them later for the stupidest reasons. People like that dont deserve animals.

To this day, i dont understand why the government or some other agency does not regulate dog-breeding. Imagine if ONLY certified and government-approved breeders were the only ones allowed to breed dogs? all other dogs would BY LAW have to be neutered. Then, they could screen owners, and no dogs would be sold at pet stores, only through certified breeders. It would solve the dog over-population problem and it would make sure it was a supply-and-demand sort of thing.

Shelters would not be so full and there would be less unwanted dogs. It kills me that dogs at shelters, even the no-kill ones, spend their lives in cages.

I would stay out of your brothers business - you get too far up his ass and it will backfire on you. Never under estimate the power of the p****! And maybe I missed something but how do you know all this? Did she confess to you?

I wouldn't stay out of my brother's business if there was a dog's life at risk.

i didn't realize the dog was in danger of dying/being killed. last i check a purebred pomeranian was pretty darn popular. but i'm not an expert. i only adopt mutts from the human society.

Its got nothing to do with the popularity of the dog. Its what SHE likes.

And i thought what she did initially was clever- it wasn't til i posted it here that people made me aware of how sneaky it actually was. I didn't think what she did was so bad because as a huge dog lover i understand why she'd want a dog. But the fact that she wants to trade it in for a new model now, is what gets up my ass.

I think the same rule should apply to humans having babies. It frightens that anyone can have a child- terrifies me actually.

I don't get the whole breed thing at all. Ok, she'd prefer a different breed, but does she not actually love the dog? The second I got my kitties, they were mine, and I wouldn't give them up for anything. If all she cares about is the breed, tell her to get a damn stuffed animal, plop it on her bed and call it a day. Her dog is a living, breathing, pet who's (presumably) bonded with her by now.

I like shelter animals for this reason (as well as others) - if you don't really have a choice in the breed, you can never feel like you made the wrong choice. You choose the animal for other reasons.

Doesn't matter what breed it is, she lied to get what she wanted, well for about 5 minutes, then got bored and now wants to trade it in for a new one.

People who do that rile me big time.
