it's so hard when it seems to happen out of nowhere, you had no time to prepare for his passing. he was beautiful, and i'm sure lived one of the best possible lives a doggie can have.

Lisa-I have found what might be a perfect memorial for him. No doubt he loved to water trees freely. I just found this and am getting some planted for my darling Ginger, who went to the big DogBone in the Sky in December. For 10 bucks you can get 10 trees planted in his name! With the pets we have lost on here we could plant a whole forest in memory. Look here:

Oh Lisa, I am so sorry. We lost our Lucy in January and I cry for her every single day. Have a funeral for your baby and dont be ashamed to cry. Someone said to me that the sorrow we feel when we lose our furbaby is the cost of all the love they gave us over the years.

Lisa, I'm so sorry. The bit about the house being quite got to me-it's one of the first things you notice and it takes the longest to get used to.

It does get better with time, though I'm sure that's no comfort now.

Lisa, I'm so very, very sorry. You have lost your little baby and the sadness and emptiness must be overwhelming. I'm very sad also for the others that have lost their much loved pets too.

I believe you'll see him again and that he is still with you. Sending you big hugs.

Wow, thank you...each and every one of you. I appreciate you all being here for me to talk to. I knew there would be a lot of furbaby mammas and daddies on GR who would understand. And for all of you who have lost cuddlies of your own, my heart hurts for your loss too. Last night was the first night in 14 yrs that I could've actually stretched out in bed and I still slept all curled up. Earl usually took about 3/4 of my side and I slept all curled up and off kilter. It was hard to sleep without him against my leg. And this morning really sucked. Every morning we had a ritual where I had to lure him outside with a treat, then I'd tell him "Be a good boy, Mamma loves you, and I'll be home as soon as i can". Even worse was when I got home. He wasn't there to howl at the gate and excitedly greet me and give me doggie kisses. My husband and I have had Earl almost as long as we've had each other. I know we were lucky to have such a sweetie be part of our life and family for 14 yrs and there were so many good memories. Honey, I really love the picture of the footprints, thank you for sharing it. Where did you find it? Is there somewhere I could find it? Again, thank you everyone...from the bottom of my heart <3

Happy trails to you...until we meet again.
I love & miss you Dad.

My heart goes out to you and your husband Lisa. Easy for me to say, but try to remember the good times.....and the joy that you got from Earl, and know that he got joy from you as well.

    *hugs* So sorry....

Lisa I am sorry for your loss. We lost our Maggie 9 days ago. I miss not having to do things for her. She was old too so I carried her up and down the stairs. It made me feel good to be helping her out - she was always such a loving dog.

It's silly but I feel better knowing she's home, we had her cremated and she's in a basket with her paw print, a piece of her fur and her ashes. We were going to bury her but I'm not ready, I may never be ready.

    hugs

Hugs to lisalucy as well as everyone who has recently lost their "child". lisa - what a gorgeous boy you had. I think he's probably playing "sock tug" with my old boy from my childhood, Winky. (Winky is letting Earl win.)
