My baby walked at the end of a leash...no carrying. I also very seldon soap bathe the dogs. They do, however have a baby pool of their own which I change the water in daily. Then when it's warm out they dunk themselves 20 times a day. They stay cool, but odor free!

If you have issues with oily coat and smell with them, try a different brand of food. Our beagle's coat was getting greasier and she always had this funny odor. We were out of food and my hubby grabbed what was at the grocery store and within a week we realized that she was back to normal.

It sounds like you guys have a good game plan for getting yourself a new family member. Everyone has given great tips, just make sure you follow them, lol. My biggest regret ever is taking my beagle out of her crate. She didn't go "bad" on us but she wasn't always good, lol. I tried to reintroduce her to it in the last few years and came home too many times to find that she had managed to get out of it and we were fighting a losing battle.

Got Rogan home today-7 hours in and zero problems at all, he was very good on the walk today and enjoyed all the people and other dogs attention...he loves to roll in the grass and play in the water-what a loyal dog-he's great!!!
