Of course animals feel love. People who claim animals have no feelings are nuts. Hubby and I have both dogs and cats, and in addition to having feelings, they also all have distinct personalities.

And as for those who hate cats, I HATE people who hate cats, or any other animals. No need to hate animals, hatred should be reserved for people who do things to deserve being hated.

I can tell that my dog feels love for me. She sleeps in my bed and cuddles with me. No kidding, she spoons with me and puts one arm around me while we sleep. She loves to cuddle and be near me, like a human would. Her face lights up when I come home from a long day at school or a vacation. She can sense when I'm upset, and she will come up to me and snuggle. She's also completely loyal. If another dog barks at me, she moves her body in front of me like a shield and growls until it backs away.

I think that they do. Sure, animals don't have the understanding and conscience that humans do, aren't able to understand abstract concepts, as it has been mentioned before, but I refuse to believe in the idea that animals are just instinct-driven empty shells.

Also, I still refuse to believe that the guinea pig (my first animal love) I had as a kid, who slept cuddled up in my arms or rolled up next to my leg didn't love me. Believe me, he did, and whatever you say otherwise won't convince me, I can't hear you.
