here's something interesting, that hub brought up. we have a little hummingbird feeder about 10 feet away nailed to a tree. it gets good traffic all day, maybe THAT could be the reason for the wasps?

That could very well be, as they'd be attracted to the sugar water. However, in my yard, I have no feeders of any kind - and they still insist on terrorizing me. They watch me with the supersized can of Raid in my hand and build homes in the yard anyway.

I used the citronella candles for bugs when I didn't have screens.

What about those electric bug zappers you can plug in and hang on the outside?

I sprayed a wasp nest with oven cleaner. I accidently picked it up instead of the raid can. It worked and it killed them fast.
But, as you know oven cleaner is narly stuff!

^^ That is quite scary when you think about it! Always wear a mask for cleaning the oven!

UPDATE: the other day i was in Walmart, and a lady told me that when they lived in Northern CA they went to a restaurant, and around the edges of the outside area had fabric softener sheets tacked up.

she asked what they were for, and they told her they keep the wasps away. So, we tried it, its been 6 days, and so far no wasps!

    Yea!

We have Africanized bees here. I had some build a nest on my house. When I called a bee removal service they sprayed a foam on the nest and scraped it off.

Some wasps build nests in the ground so maybe that's why you weren't finding it.

If it's on apartment property your landlord should call someone to take care of it.
