This shows how big your raccoon was, because ground hogs are not small. This guy looks mighty angry. YES, give us videos.

You don't have bears. We didn't have them for decades...until my parents neglected the place and now it's overgrown. That, and many of their neighbors sold their land to McMansion developers so all the wildlife is seeking refuge on our place. Since our farm is near a river, wildlife naturally travels down from the mountains.

^^We have friends/family that live in parts of LA and get bears in the neighborhood. Always a momma and her babies digging in the garbage. They're pretty terrified of people and take off when you come out. They're afraid of dogs, too. Even little ones. Of course, every year a baby gets stuck in a trash can or something and the momma goes nuts. Poor guys.

Right now, we have a very active mountain lion in my neighborhood. He's a juvenile, but he's taking down full grown deer, so he can still be pretty dangerous. Mostly, he's around in the very early morning hours, so I've stopped taking the kid and dog for walks early in the day.

My greatest fear with bears is to inadvertently get between a mother and her cubs. My brother gets bears on his land fairly often. He has to keep his garbage behind locked doors. Still, I'm not so intimidated by bears as I am of coyotes. It's not rational, but I HATE coyotes. Hearing their celebrations while ripping up a stray cat or dog makes them pure evil in my mind. My brother hunts those assholes.

Mountain Lions are extinct around here . Bobcats are being spotted more frequently in suburban areas.

Go, hog, GO! Yeah, you probably should have killed it. I couldn't myself. I was taught by a fine gentile Southern lady how to dispose of nuisance squirrels and ground hogs using the convenience of the exhaust pipe on one's own car. Easy as pie! I lack the fortitude.

BTW, 'Hondas, don't know who is who in that video, but someone there is kinda a hottie.

My FIL is the guy in the sandals. The guy making a spectacle of himself yelling at the groundhog is me.

Below is the vid where my Iranian neighbor suggests killing the groundhog:

    Bloody awesome mate.

If that creature had attacked my doggie (RIP Boofy) it wouldn't have survived my reaction.
