See the title of this thread? When the time is right - do THAT again. Some kitty will love you for his or her forever.

I hope Scully is meeting up with Kirb and showing him around. He's a bit of an airhead
This so made me smile. Scully was such a bitch hoping she's mellowed with Kirby's help!!!!

Thanks, palta. It really is so hard. Today is the first day that I woke up and wasn't so terribly sad. I'm still sad, but I guess I'm getting used to the idea that he's not here.

If anyone can do it, Kirby can. He was such a lover. The most mellow cat I have ever known in my entire life. Look at this dork. We gave him a summer lion cut

Great thinking, Kris. I'm sure there are two lovey kitties that would adore having you for their momma.

I hope so. Although, the three year old around here might make them change their minds

Aw, I just read that Kirby passed on, I am so sorry!! I love the pic you posted, Kirby was so adorable. One of ours looks very much like him, minus the haircut.

Thanks, Constance I miss my little guy, for sure. He was a doll and a lover. We used to do that cut in the summer, because he was a gigantic fluff ball and his hair would get out of control in the summer. Oh, I miss that guy.

^^I can imagine how much you miss him!! Having to let them go is so damn hard to deal with. Our CRF guy will be 20 soon and we are taking it day by day.

Our vet seems to think he had a stroke or a seizure and that just send him downhill fast. I guess both of those things can happen when their kidneys aren't doing well. We missed it because some days he was doing great, others not so great. We just figured he was in the not so great phase and he'd come out of it. He didn't and I fear we waited too long, thinking he would go back to normal like he did previously.

That picture above ^^ is darling, whenever I check this last page and see that it warms my heart. Give yourself time, it won't ever make it "ok" that he is gone, but it will become less of a pain that you always have directly in front of you. Right now it is ok to just feel sad, it is a sad thing.

We are in the same situation with our CRF guy, some days are great, other days we wonder if it's time and then he rallies again. You did the very best you could do for him and Kirby was very, very lucky to have you!!

Thank you, that's very sweet. I have to find more pics of him because he was really one of a kind. I've had two cry free days (so far).

Thanks I know we did what we could, but it always feels like it's not enough. I hate that we were robbed of a few more good years with the best cat I've ever had. Nothing bothered him. Dogs, cats, kids people. He loved everything.

I hope your guy hangs in there and continues to rally. It's so heartbreaking to see them when they're down, but when they rally, it's like they become their old selves.

^^ Yes, no matter how long, it never seems long enough. I also hope our old guy will hang in there longer. He was 2 months when we adopted him, so we've almost had him for the full 20 years. It will be really, really rough when he goes.
Our ginger guy really sounds similar to your Kirby. Loves everyone and expects everyone to love him. He's had a tough time of it, lived under a shed and, after we rescued him, had to have all of his teeth removed because of stomatitis. But he is as happy as can be.

one of the ladies at the local rescue said orange tabby cats tend to be the sweetest of all kitties I think she's right.
