Gideon has been called a "Miracle Dog," after having survived being hit and dragged by a car more than three months ago. Toby is his new canine companion at the Bob and Marilyn Collier home in Yorba Linda.
On Nov. 17, Gideon was found involved in a degloving injury. It is a type of injury in which an extensive section of skin is torn off the underlying tissue, severing its blood supply.
While in recovery, Gideon, a white German shepherd, hit and dragged by a car, is never far from his constant companion, Toby, below him. Enjoying the camraderie are, from right, Marilyn and Bob Collier, their daughter Katie Smith and dog rescuer Tiffany Norton.
Marilyn Collier gives Gideon some well-deserved attention while her other dog, Toby, moves in to see what the fuss is all about. The white German shepherd survived being hit and dragged by a car. Bob and Marilyn Collier adopted the injured canine after reading about him in an earlier Register news article.
Gideon relaxes with a T-shirt covering his wounds. The Collier family's other dog, Toby, rests on Marilyn Collier's lap. Dog rescuer Tiffany Norton named him Gideon because it means "strength," which the pooch has in spades, she said.
