I live in a backhouse with my dog, and my housemate has an Italian Greyhound. The dogs share the yard, and we both have doggie doors so the two dogs go in about out of both our places.
I don't understand this Greyhound at all! He's the most shy, skittish thing. And he barks at everything. He'll come to my door and stand there barking and barking forever. Then when I try to approach him to show him I'm not a threat, or to let him in, he runs away. He'll even come into my house and bark constantly. I don't understand what he's trying to communicate with all this barking. At first I thought he was barking to get my dog to come out and play, and I'm sure thats part of it. But often he's at the door barking when my dog is out in the yard.
I can't tell if my dog is getting along with him. My dog is incredibly sweet and even-tempered. And when the Greyhound is barking, she just lays down and stares at him.
I can't tell what's going on here. At first, I thought they got along great, but today I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
