Default Voodoo the cat: falls 34 stories and lives

With a name like Voodoo, a 34-floor plunge from a penthouse could well put a vengeful end to a meddling cat's life.
But Voodoo the Manx cat survived his mighty descent with only a sore paw.
The staggering fall was cushioned by a bush and left the seven-year-old feline with just a blood shot eye, some scratches and a respectable eight remaining lives.
Voodoo has always had an affinity for heights and enjoys living life on the edge, according to his owner.

Magic! Voodoo the Manx cat plunged a staggering 43 floors from a penthouse and survived with little more than sore paws

Sheree Washington said he often teetered on the edge of the balcony of their tower block home on Queensland's Gold Coast in Australia.
But she and husband Wayne became concerned after they noticed Voodoo was missing after dinner on Monday.
'We searched high and low several times and he was nowhere to be found,' said Mr Washington.
On Tuesday morning, Sheree made the journey downstairs, expecting to find her beloved pet's body at the base of the high rise.
But instead she found Voodoo with nothing more than a few scratches.
'I just saw him lying under the bushes,' she said.
'He was just crouched back in the corner.'
Voodoo had fallen 34 floors and landed on a bush, Mrs Washington said, discounting any possibility that he could have caught the elevator or walked down stairs.
Mrs Washington said there was no doubt in her mind the bush had saved his life.
Several branches were snapped, clearly indicating where Voodoo had landed.
But, miraculously, Voodoo walked away from the incident with a bloodshot eye, a scratched ear, a cut mouth and a damaged paw.
'All his Christmases have come at once,' said a relieved Mrs Washington. 'I don't think Voodoo will be going close to the edge again.'

...and the idiots let him? Didn't screen in the balcony or keep him indoors?

How the hell could they sleep that night thinking their pet's body was lying on the ground beneath them?

Someone take that cat away from these morons.

Hell, you can only shelter a cat so much. They're adventurers. I suppose they could keep him in the house and be really vigilant about making sure he didn't make a break for it every tiem they opened a door or window.

we used to live on the 14th floor when i was a kid. huge balcony. we put up a fence to make it higher because the cat would walk along the edge.
well, we put up the fence and then he would just climb up and teeter on the edge of that. and since it was the last floor, it's not like we could totally fence in the balcony since it was just open sky after that. and you can't always keep the windows closed. so i agree with mrs.dark, you can't shelter cats all that much.

It just doesn't sound like they cared that much.

cats are like Children, you have to make it safe for them. they are a million feet up in the sky. i'm sure that cat doesnt look down and say 'whoa we sure are high up, and if i fall, i may not make it'. the owners need to cat proof the apt.
