^^That's what I was thinking. Pit bulls are dangerous in my opinion.

Cute to see, but I cringe every time the dog opens its mouth

We have had a pitbull for 8 years and we have three cats, two parrots, and a bunny, and all cohabitate nicely. We don't leave the parrots and bunny out when we are not home, but we don't follow everyone around when they are out and interacting either. Never had a problem. Never had a problem with him and the rats or guinea pigs we used to have when the dog was younger either. BTW- the "meanest" animals we own are the parrots. They are at the top of the hierarchy in our house. EVERYONE stays out of their way. None of the animals mind the pitbull, but they avoid the parrots.

I'd be mean, too, if I was a parrot. They belong where they came from, not in someone's house.

Since they were rescues, I guess the life they live now beats their personal alternative. Where these two came from was a neglectful backyard breeder who had her "stock" removed from her home and many were not lucky or healthy enough to be adopted out. For the last fourteen years, they have been members of our family. I think for these two particular birds, they are where they belong.

Well, thank goodness there are people like you who rescue them. They shouldn't have been brought over here in the first place, but people want these birds who are big & beautiful and say anything you teach them (!) but then get put off by the noise, mess, long lifespan, aggression, etc. I don't know much about parrot breeders, so I won't show my ignorance on that, but it all just seems wrong to me. To me, it's like breeding any exotic animal so someone can have an unusual pet.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I figured it would turn into a pitbull debate anyway
