    Default My dog is dying....

My dog has been losing weight for the past 6 months or so. She's a yellow Lab, 13. She was 66lbs, and now she's down to 45lbs. I got her blood work back from the vet and she's in the beginning stages of liver failure. They said she's not in pain, but she doesn't feel well. I took her home so if she wants to die there, she can.

The vet said, as long as she still engaged in the family, we're going to leave her alone. But if she stops eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, etc... we'll have to revisit the situation.

I have no time frame. It could be 2 weeks, it could be 3 months. Don't know.

Bailey was my first child. We got her a year after we got married. We are heartbroken, but we knew at 13 the time was coming...

I will try to post pics when I get home.

Oh Louis! So sorry!!!! I know its so hard to watch a member of your family, which your doggie is, go downhill like that. Its heartbreaking!!

Try to make her as comfortable as possible and be there for her. She will appreciate it. And you will too.

    Best of luck. Sorry!!

Even if you know the time is coming, nothing really prepares you for it. Just keep loving her, and my sympathies are with you.

I'm so sorry. I know how much our pets mean to us. Josie is like my baby.

Maybe you could try a good liver supplement?? Josie is on Denamarin to help support her liver.

You had a life of love together, and you're making sure she is happy and comfortable with the time we are all lucky to have remaining on this earth! So sorry to hear about the pup, sending positive vibes...

I'm sorry, it must be so hard.

I guess there must be some comfort in the fact that she's a good age and she's not suffering too much. Take it a day at a time, give her lots of cuddles and take plenty of photos of you both together.

I'm very sorry Louis....You and Bailey are in my thoughts.....

I am sorry. It is so unfair how short the lives of dogs are...

My heart goes out to you and Bailey. Last year I became a first time puppy mom and it's one of the most wonderful things I have ever done. You are lucky to have your little Bailey. She is lucky to have you. Spend extra time with her.

I'm looking forward to seeing your photos!

    Love to you.
    Liz
