    Default RIP: Scout (1991-2007)

My aunt euthanized her dog today. It was probably the hardest thing she's had to do in a while.

She'd had this dog since before she got married and had kids; essentially Scout was her first baby.

About a week ago, she started having seizures and my aunt finally decided it was her time to go.

I had a lot of memories with Scout, too. It was hard on a lot of us to say goodbye to such a great member of our family.

So, here's to you Scout. I'll miss you, girl.

How sad. It makes me sick to think one day my dog will die too. It's so hard losing our "babies".

    RIP Scout.

Che is such a beautiful girl. She also looks like she was very king hearted and smart.

My condolences to you and your aunt in losing a cherished family member.

Kudos to your aunt for doing the right thing by Scout. Making such a tough decision is the ultimate selfless act.

Hugs to you and your dear aunt.

I just saw your post now.

I am so sorry to hear of your aunt's loss, and yours.

It hurts to the core to have to euthanize an animal, but your aunt loved Scout enough to spare her any unnecessary suffering.

You might shake your head in disbelief, for we don't know each other that well, but I firmly believe that you and your aunt will see Scout again.

Meanwhile, I like to think that Scout is romping around on the bridge with my late Heinz 57, Nikko.

Scout had terrier in her, didn't she? So did my Nikko.

My aunt actually handled it pretty well.. if anything, I was more shaken up by losing her. I didn't get a chance to see her before she went, but my aunt said she hadn't eaten in a week and couldn't stand up. "Like she had mad cow disease" is how she described it. She was probably in a lot of pain and the doctors said they could treat it aggressively but it would only postpone it for a week at most.. so they made the decision to put her down.

I'll miss her, that's for damn sure. But I know somewhere she's running around, chasing cats.
