    Default Fainting goats

I watched an episode of “Dirty Jobs” on the Discovery Channel which showed
a farm that raised fainting goats (or myotonic goats).

Maybe it’s because I was born and raised in the city but I had no clue that there was such a breed.

Some people believe that they were originally used by farmers as a decoy against predators for more expensive livestock. Today they are mostly farm pets.

I thought I’d post a link to a video in case others haven’t seen them before.

My husband tried to scare a bunch of them once, but they weren't impressed by his efforts & did not faint.

That is hilarious Elvira, thanks for posting. I love goats, I wanted some so bad, because they are cute, for the milk until I found out what you have to do to keep the mommy lactating (deprive the baby, which bleats constantly, so sad). I've also heard they are very people-oriented. One time I was living on a woman's property and she went away for a few weeks... her main goat went into mourning and refused to eat for awhile.

I love how at the end one of the goats is flat on its back like it has rigor mortis. Too funny.
