    Default Pet groomers gone wild

The original thread source (http://www.buzzfeed.com/maceyjforond...mers-gone-wild) is much larger with more examples, but these are some of my favorites:

    Cheetoh cat:

    Super Mario Brothers

The (embarrassed) thing with two heads:

    The Tex Mex:

The "I aint Lion, that's my Ass":

These are cute and clever but they don't look like much fun for the animals. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for idly tormenting my pets for my own amusement, but not if it makes them scared or uncomfortable.

If you look at the comments section on Buzzfeed, there is a lot of back and forth about that.

Yeah, this kind of depresses me. Knowing my own pets aversion to the groomers, I can't imagine these animals were at ease. My dogs aren't even that bad and they're short-haired, so it's really just a matter of getting their nails trimmed and ears cleaned (when I'm too impatient to do it myself). But my mom's Yorkie is horribly afraid of the groomers, especially the bath. She gets so upset my mom can't even take her herself and I end up having to do it. It's traumatizing for me to leave her because she gets so worked up.

I have an issue in general with people who do this sort of thing to their pets. The kids insist we dress the pups for Halloween and they can just barely tolerate that, but dying fur and painting nails is too much. IMO, grooming should be strictly for hygenic purposes, to keep their fur from matting, nails from splitting, and anything else required for their comfort. If you can style it pretty, sure, but don't torture your pet just to make them look cute. My dog has two weird cow licks on the back of her head that go in opposing directions, giving her a sort of mohawk down her neck. Someone once asked me, totally seriously, if I styled it like that with gel. I was totally thrown by that and thought, 'really? Who the fuck would actually do that?' Now I guess I know.

There are some cool ones, but I think those are as far as people should go with the crazy grooming, if at all:

See that's adorable, and pooch-lion doesn't look one bit traumatised.

^^^ Agree. Long-haired dogs need to be groomed, so if you can make it fun have at it. It's the overkill of dying and shaving designs into their fur (like the cat in the first pic) that gets to me. Lion dog looks happy and clean. And super cute!!!!

i admit, i like the cat with the lion on its ass. and you can't really get cats to do something they don't want unless you drug them, so i'm going to assume he wasn't too traumatised.

The lion/dog is the only one that didn't make feel sad. I've got a great sense of humor, but some of those animals .... well it's embarrassing.

Poor things. If I even draw eyebrows on my dog she gets really upset with me, so she'd for sure freak on this kind of shit.
