    Default Guilty dogs

Yep, the owners are kinda dumb interrogating their pets, but it's a gut reaction.
The dogs' body language is hilarious, though.

ha ha. The body language says it all. I especially love the one who "smiles".

^We used to care for a miniature poodle decades ago, whenever her owners had to go out. She wasn't allowed on the furniture but she'd jump on beds etc. and made herself comfortable. Therefore, we'd cover the beds with all kinds of stuff, tennis rackets, plastic bags, you name it. So, one time we couldn't find her and went looking. When we finally found her, she was laying on one of the beds in the tiniest empty spot. We told her to get off the bed and she very slowly got up and then ever so slowly and carefully prodded the bed with her front paw while looking at us "I don't even know how I got up her with all that junk on the bed. I didn't do it myself, see, because there's not even enough room to jump off!" It really was hysterical, too bad long before quick shot video cameras.

Some of those people are idiots. Dogs don't feel guilt, they're not humans and they're not capable of thinking that way. If anything they knew they were in trouble, but they don't feel shame or guilt about what they've done, otherwise they'd learn from it and not do it again and the dog treat industry would go out of business.

i love these, but I disagree with faithanne. i think they do feel guilt, but just can't help themselves. Through my many years I've had many dogs, they all knew when they'd been naughty.

Knowing when they've done something wrong (and being afraid of getting into trouble) is not the same as feeling guilt. That's a human emotion and dogs aren't human, no matter how much people want them to be. I love dogs and I've known some super smart ones but they're still just dogs.

Sssshhh, I think Faithanne may be Cesar Milan in disguise. (Just kidding, I like the Dog Whisperer, just don't think he's right about everything).

LOL that's what EVERYONE says - "but my dogs have feelings! My dogs understand complex sentences! My dogs can play the violin!" I often wonder why some of these genius mutts haven't been studied by veterinarians for their super non-canine abilities.

The first rule we learned at puppy pre-school is "don't anthropomorphise your dogs - they're not humans so don't expect them to think like you or act like you". And after class most of the puppy parents were like "that might be the case for most dogs, but MY dog is different".

Dogs feel happiness and fear and that's about it.
