Sad story but a happy ending
Hope will be heading to her new home soon where she will be pampered and loved.
The small pug mix who rescuers named Hope will have a wonderful storybook ending. On Friday the friendly little dog was adopted. Less than a week ago she was abandoned on Baker Road in Parker County with her mouth taped shut by electrical tape and her tongue intentionally pulled out. It took the sheriff's office, volunteers, and animal control agents hours to finally capture the scared and seriously injured dog.
Local residents Charlie and Kit Moncrief adopted Hope, and when the adorable little pooch who was previously treated as trash is released from the Bowie Drive Animal Hospital, she will be spoiled and loved.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler knows the Moncrief family personally.
Hope is still recovering from the 100 stitches she needed to close several deep wounds on her body. Her veterinarian, Dr. Kevin Buchanan expects Hope to be heading to her new home in approximately a week.
In the meantime, authorities are still looking for the culprit who tortured Hope. A $35,000 reward has been offered through local businesses, individuals and the Texas Humane Alliance for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for such a heinous deed.
Hope's story became an Internet sensation. As word spread through social media of the horrible abuse done to this innocent dog, hundreds of adoption offers, donations and presents poured in for Hope. According to the dallasnews.com, Hope now has a monogrammed blanket, new dog bed, and a dog charm spelling out her name.
