My cats have dandruff

My cat had dandruff when I first got her but it cleared up when I started feeding her premium food. I switched to a cheaper brand, and it came back! I got Newman's Own thinking it would be good enough but she still has the dandruff so I'm switching back to a the Premium brand I had gotten before.

Would the premium food cause a cat to smell? I'm confused, but my kitty doesn't smell at all. Wet food makes her poop real smelly so I only give her dry. I've tried a bunch of different brands of food and nutro natural choice has been the best for me. I've actually noticed that it really does make her coat silkier and softer than when I'm feeding her regular brands, and I've read foods without enough vitamin e in them can give cats dandruff.

Science Diet sensitive skin dry food and 1/2 can a day for a week of science diet wet food has always cured the dandruf on my cat. It could also be the start of a chronic illness like an allergy or a stress reaction.
