    Default Swallowtail butterflies

I was outside today and saw the largest butterfly ever (well largest I have ever seen in my yard). It is a Western Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. He/she was feasting away on the lantana plant in my front yard.

I didn't have my camera but found a photo of the same butterfly on the same type of plant. Anyone else have spectacular butterflies in their area? (btw, I live in CA).

Butterfly and moth numbers have gone way down. I didn't see any Swallowtails this year, the only Monarch I saw was dead on the highway. I haven't seen a Luna moth in 20 years. It's so depressing. Enjoy the beauty while you can.
