Things dogs shouldn't eat
I know cocoa and onions are two no-no's for dogs.

I've always thought so, but I've seen several friends of mine feed their dogs chocolate, and they're perfectly fine, so I don't know. Why are onions bad for them?

Well, the doggie has long gone to meet her maker, but many years after the *incident.* She lived a long time, for a dane. What happened was a monumental case of diarrhea on the kitchen floor, and she looked even more pitiful than usual for a few days.

Re: Things dogs shouldn't eat
The beads, shells, fabric... on my pillows! couch! wash clothes! towels! blankets! rugs! MONEY! Help!? I have a dog with a fabric fetish! Yes he goes in purses! We have 3 dogs and our only male dog has BIG issues! He's nasty with other peoples animals too. Honestly, he is my 2nd male dog and last. Love him, he's a cuddler but a real ego maniac that thinks he's Alpha.

Re: Things dogs shouldn't eat
I just came back from Puerto Rico yesterday and my husband got mad because there was such a sweet doggie on the plane (yes they let tiny dogs on planes now) and he kissed me on my mouth-the dog I mean.He was just so cute.

Re: Things dogs shouldn't eat
You can get special 'dog chocs' but it teaches them to like it and so they go for the real stuff too which is very bad for them. I was also told that potato is bad for them.
NEVER give you dogs cooked bones - they shatter. Raw bones are very good for them though.

it takes quite a bit of chocolate (cocoa) to kill a dog, but it's toxic to them.

Doesn't the chocolate cause their little sugar levels to get out of whack real bad?
I've heard that orange is bad for cats. I don't know if it bothers dogs.

Re: Things dogs shouldn't eat
^^I don't think orange is bad for cats, but I've learned that they don't like the smell. I scattered some grated orange peel under my Christmas tree, and it kept the cats away from it. Somebody on this board turned me on to that.
I don't think you are supposed to give cats tylenol, but you can give it to dogs.

Cats can't have any kind of human painkillers. Their nervous systems are much more delicate than dogs. Aspirin can actually kill cats, even baby aspirin.

feeding your dog a spoonfull of sugar will not kill it, however a spoonfull of cocao can.
