I put together this post from a bunch of different sources (linked throughout)- hope that's okay. There hasn't been much media coverage on this. So if anyone can help, please do! As a Basset Hound owner, this makes me so sad.
Daphneyland, a Basset Hound rescue ranch located in Acton, CA is near to the line of the Station wildfires.
This picture was taken at the ranch on 8/30/09 approximately at noon:
The fire is currently about 3 miles away from the ranch and mandatory evacuations are ordered for the other side of the freeway from the ranch.

Here are a few updates from the Kennel Manager:
2:44 AM, 9/1/09, Kennel Manager updates: “We are safe as of 2:44AM. Here from the property we would evacuate all animals with the assistance of several neighbors as during an evacuation it’s unlikely that non area residents could get through.” The shelter needs money for the expenses that comes with the smoke, ashes, fire and pending evacuation.
1:41 AM, 9/2/09, KM said: "...We were in evac mode in a big way when a gust came up and blew a wall of smoke and ash at us...We were on Stand By, and then about an hour alter it all calmed down....Let's hope an air purification system comes in quick after our interview with some network radio early evening on 9/1/09...Hear interview here http://tinyurl.com/lkop8p"
Also, some folks are trying to contact news channels (CBS/ABC/NBC affiliates out in CA area) about this. They want to try to drum up support from the human interest side. Sadly, Daphneyland isn't the only rescue in danger.
The shelter has 100+ dogs (basset hounds and mixes). They have a number of old, sick dogs that may not be able to handle the smoke, stress, and that means vet bills will come high.
If any of you can, please contact the media, forward this on, or donate to their fund, even if its just $5.
