Today's A*O Rant: Dummy Yummy Mummies
Are these women so bombed out on Prozac, booze or tranqs that what little brain they ever possessed has totally disappeared?
I met a friend for coffee today in a local cafe. A couple of YMs walked in, both with those Humvee double stroller things that completely blocked the aisle and required them to move several tables out of the way. They didn't want to use the outdoor seating provided because one of them had 'just had my nails done'.
The 4 kids, all aged around 3-4 climbed out of their strollers and sat at a table (strollers were of course left in everyone's way) and began to fight. YM1 went to the counter to order while YM2 started texting and totally ignoring the kids who by now were throwing the paper tube thingys of sugar onto the floor. The kids then picked up some sugar tubes and began chewing them open, spilling sugar all over the table, chairs and floor. Meanwhile YM2 continued to text, oblivious to the chaos all around. YM1 returned to the scene of devastation and said they'd all have to move because 'the waitress hasn't cleaned this table' while the kids sat there with sugar all around their mouths, fingers, hair etc so it was obvious who was responsible. YM2 continued to text.
So they all decamped to another table where the kids were given a selection of food and snacks the YMs had brought with them from home which kids spread/threw all around (including a plastic box that hit me on the back of the head) while the YMs happily chatted about this and that amid the chaos.
Other customers were glaring at them to keep their fucking kids under control and one brave waitress handed them a damp cloth so they could wipe up the mess and both YMs looked at her as though she'd given them a fresh turd.
And THEN, get this, their 'order' arrived and it was two glasses of water!!!

OMG I can't believe that they only ordered water. I hope you threw the plastic lid back at the kids I don't understand how people can go let their kids carry on like that in a public place. I bet if they ever go out without their 'angels' and there are other children behaving like that, they would say their 'angels' never behave like that

how do you just order water and nothing that you have to pay for? I know I'm old school, but I HATE to see people out with other people and then pretty much ignore who they are with, be it cause they're on the phone, text messaging or whatever the hell. Can people pay attention to who they're with, or is anybody else more exciting? I see people ignoring their partners, their kids, their pets etc. It makes me crazy. If I was with somebody that did that I would leave

ALL of that is so unbelievable rude. The poor wait staff. "Oh, gee I get to listen to your brats and clean up their messes AND you ordered WATER!! Lucky us!!" These women are trash. They give us other Yummy Mummies bad names.

What really bugged me was they seemed totally oblivious that the kids were trashing the place and the filthy looks people were giving them. It was like they were completely zoned out and far, far away. I picked up the plastic box projectile and put it on the table and the YMs glared at me like I'd stolen it or something. And yes, the water IS free in cafes. They just wanted somewhere to sit so the kids could have their home-made picnic. Unfuckingbelieveable. And these are not trailertrash bogans, they drive BMW X5s, designer clothes, wealthy husbands...... etc

Unfortunately I know one lady like this. She is an ex boss I had for a part time job in a clothes shop. (won't mention the shop name). She was so snobby and let her little boy do anything in public. She often bought him into the shop and one day he pulled his pants down and peed on a clothing rack. She just laughed it off. I could not believe that!
She would also walk into other *designer* shops with her boy and let him run wild. If a sales assistant dare say anything to her, she would promptly up and leave and tell them she will take her business elsewhere. (she bragged constantly about doing this) She thought because she was rich, she could do as she pleased and let her boy do as he wanted also.
The whole situation made me sick and I ended up having to leave as I wasn't finding it funny. I have nothing against kids but that was a bit over the top!

We get those types around here too. A couple of days ago I had to go up to the clinical floor and supervise the staff while my boss was in a meeting and in the patient waiting room someone left the most hellacious two kids who were rough housing and running. At one point I got up and yelled at them because they were standing on the chairs and running from chair seat to chair seat. Their mother finally came out of her appointment and both whined about how 'good' they've been. That they deserveer a treat.
What the fuck is wrong with people?

I had a family moving some things in a few weeks ago with 3 kids...Why you would want to bring kids with you to move is beyond me...the kids were running around the facility like wild animals. Beating on the window to my office. One looked to be between 7 and 9, and the others looked about 5. I gave the oldest kid a pretty hard stare and she just kept on. I looked out at the front door (automatic doors) and they are pushing the emergency release handle while the door was opening. The thing was, the oldest kid knew she was not supposed to do it, because she would cut her eyes over to me. (my office is surrounded by windows) I shook my finger at her and shook my head no. She quit doing that, but put the other kids on the carts and was pushing them around. I finally said, fuck it, if they get hurt, that's just too damned bad. The parents acted like they had dropped the kids off at a playground or daycare facility. They never once came looking for them. The last time I saw them they were running rampant in the parking lot...
My kids were far from perfect, but I promise you, they never acted like that...

People need to start standing up to these morons and their free-range brats. Back in the day(lol) theparents would quickly take care of misbehavior in public, and if they did not then other adults around would let them know they needed to pretty damn quickly. If we did that kind of crap as kids we were taken out of there and punished. As long as nobody says anything to these cretin parents then they will continue to think that letting their brats run rampant in public is ok. Screw the hurt feelings/outrage of the twit parents.

^^I don't think those people actually have feelings, at least not normal ones. They probably were allowed to do the same when they were brats, too, cuz after all, they're rich and SPECIAL and rules/manners don't apply to them.
I saw something like this happening the other day at a place near me and I damn near applauded when an older woman got up and went over to the oblivious dumbheads, I mean mothers, and gave them a piece of her mind. The two bitches actually went to the adolescent asst. manager of the ritizy coffee bar and asked that she be "thrown out" for bothering them, or they would take their "business" elsewhere. The hapless asst. looked terrified, at which point I and another man both piped up and told these entitled cheapskates that their money and precious kids didn't buy them the right to disturb an entire public facility.
So of course they stomped out of the place, muttering that they were going to contact their lawyers. One of them even threatened the poor kid on duty that they "knew the owners" and she would be fired by noon. Well, I popped in yesterday to grab a coffee -- they make the best in town -- and she was still working there. Ha!
That threat is a favourite threat of the rich bitches (and their hubbies) in these parts and it's usually BS. The good news is that I think the backlash against the stroller people is starting to gain momentum.

Honey works better. When I see little drape apes acting out of control, I try to find a couple of kids who are acting like they have been raised properly. Then I go to the parents of the well behaved children and make a big, loud fuss over how wonderfully their children act in public. I point out that it takes active parenting to have this happen and that many other parents (at this point I look at the offending parents) could learn by their example.
This way, the morons take better notice since I am not in their faces, and I get to compliment the folks who are trying to do it right and their children.

Yeah, they are - they're just dressed better. It's too bad management in these places won't start tossing these assholes out on their keisters. Maybe if every patron irritated by this sort of thing would go up to them and say, "I'm leaving your establishment now because of the ruckus that you allow to continue" they'll do something to salvage business. It puts it on the business instead of directly on the offenders, but they do this sort of shit because they're allowed to get away with it and there are never any consequences.

I would agree, except that most of these people are oblivious to anyone but themselves. Trust me, I use that tactic with students all the time and only a few respond. The level of entitlement out there is scary, even among kids/parents who aren't rich enough to get away with it.
