I have watched a few episodes, just to see what they were about. They are Southern. I am Southern. That is pretty much where it ends, except I don't need the subtitles as much as some will. Still, this is what I have noticed.
Mama June has little education, but lives life on decent terms. She thinks of herself as volumptuous instead of weight challanged. Loves her family. Makes do on a budget. She could use help on manners & nutrition, but she is supportive.
Those kids are having a great time and are allowed freedom. Not much TV,no computers, just getting to run wild quite a bit, much like we used to do.
They have many, many family activities, fish fries, mud games, other games they invent freely. OK,some would have caused other mothers to faint.
Sugar Bear loves all of those children and June. To him,she is his trophy girl.
They have had not one advantage most of us have had, but they function pretty well. There is a lot of love there. Good for them.
I didn't start out to collect diamonds, but somehow they just kept piling up.-Mae West

Everyone can take a deep breath, Sugar Bear is going to be OK.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo's patriarch Mike Thompson was recently hospitalized after an injury to his foot from his "mud-boggin'" accident grew an infection.
But luckily, it's not as bad as it sounds.
Get the full scoop on Sugar Bear's accident here!
At first, rumors started spreading that Sugar Bear could possibly have to amputate his leg—pretty serious stuff—but thankfully, that was never the case.
His lady June has been keeping everyone updated on Sugar Bear's status through Alana Thompson's Facebook page.
Just a couple hours ago, she shared some great news, "well we got more awesome sugarbear is able to come home today woohoo so we r mcintrye bound now will b so glad to b home"

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will be returning to your TV screens for more!
Earlier this morning, June explained what had happened to her beau.
"sorry I didn't update everyone after surgery but it was a very stressful day with everything going on the surgery went great the irrigated the knee it was the start of a small infection but they caught it early which was good.
"got the echo results back this am its was good but now today he will have a scope down his throat to c behind the valves to double check to make sure no infection there finally some good news."

I think he injured his knee, I didn't understand the part about the scope down the throat either.

He's diabetic. Infections and diabetes are a bad mix. They probably want to make sure things haven't spread.

I know. Maybe in season two they can get these people to work with a nutritionist or something.

I agree! Her Uncle Lee a.k.a. "Uncle Poodle" is gay. Sugar Bear's brother.

Well said, McJag. I love the subtitles, and like you, I don't need to read them, as I understand their dialect. Same thing with "Swamp People."

Based on what I first saw of that child, I thought she was completely obnoxious and unredeemable but she's actually sweet when she's not talkin smack.

I like the fact that she can "entertain herself" as they say, with anything at all! Vivid imagination.

She is a sweet kid. And she has a good attitude about stuff, even at the pageants she is so sweet to the other girls and cheering for them, you can tell she has a lot of love in her heart. I think the people saying the show is about her acting spoiled and her bad behavior haven't actually watched her- a good example is when they gave back glitzy, she wasn't throwing a fit and acting like a brat or when she prepared for the pageant for months but couldn't go because her sister was in the hospital. Her parents may be rednecks, but they are good people and it shows through their kid.
