I blame my friend Kenton for getting me to watch this show.
I don't know if this is sad or hilarious:

‘Honey Boo Boo’ Ratings Top RNC’s

Mitt Romney and company couldn’t beat the allure of a self-proclaimed “redneck” family. According to Nielsen overnight ratings, TLC’s controversial reality show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” drew 2.9 million viewers Wednesday night at 10 p.m. In second place: Fox News’ coverage of the Republican National Convention, to which 1.2 million adults tuned in.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Honey Boo Boo” scored more viewers in the key 18- to 49-year-old demographic than the RNC coverage on any one of the individual broadcast networks. But, of course, aggregate coverage of the RNC across networks topped “Honey Boo Boo’s” numbers.
“Honey Boo Boo,” a spin-off of TLC’s equally eyebrow-raising series “Toddlers and Tiaras,” debuted earlier this month to 2.2 million viewers. Its star is Alana, a 6-year-old pageant queen better known as Honey Boo Boo Child. Among the show’s apparent charms: Honey Boo Boo’s catch phrases (for example, ”A dollar make me wanna holler”) and inability to control herself after drinking “go-go juice,” a mixture of Red Bull and Mountain Dew.

I pretty much hate this family based on looks alone but anything beating the RNC is good in my book.

Even as much as I hate the idea of this show, I'm tickled to pieces that it topped the RNC in the ratings.![]()

"A Dolla Make Me Holla!": Just how much does Honey Boo Boo and her family (reality TV child star Alana Thompson and her family from TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo") make on their hit series? According to The Hollywood Reporter, not all that much compared to other reality TV stars. A source tells THR that the family of six reportedly pulls in between $2,000 and $4,000 an episode, plus a small "location fee," for their 10-epsiode first season. With over three million viewers for its August 29 episode, we're thinking the Thompson family might be pulling in more money if the show is picked up for another season. Reps for TLC declined to comment about the family's pay when contacted by THR.

I was always curious how much reality families get paid for putting their lives on TV like that. Not much. Not much at all.
~Madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Nope. Not even enough to pay for the removal of a spare thumb.
