And then we could ask why the hell little girls need a ton of makeup for cheerleading/dance. None of it is right.

It isn't just bad retouchers either. Look at the stage shots from the pageants themselves with the forced smiles and the ton of makeup. Those aren't retouched. That's actually what they looked like at the time and it's awful.

They manage to make 7 year olds look like 30 year olds with progeria.

I think a 5 year old made that board...and they are probably smarter than 90pct of the posters (the other 10pct being from GR and therefore smarter than them)

That's okay. Laughter is good for the soul and I can admit when I make a mistake. Especially one that has been made by many people before me.

You know, all of us pageant families have those type of memories too. My grand daughter cut off all of her hair at the age of 3. Actually, she and her friend gave each other haircuts! Her mom almost had a heart attack because she had to tell the other mom that her daughter had no hair left!

The point is that pageant kids are just kids and do all of the things other kids do. They wear costumes on stage for a few minutes, and the rest of the time you wouldn't be able to pick them out of the crowd.

I feel like you guys think they wear all this stuff 24/7.

Maybe this should be a new thread: Cheerleading: too slutty and competitive now?
I see that you have started a new thread on this. We are not involved in the cheerleading aspect. But we are involved in competitive dance.

There is a big push by many of the teachers right now in the dance world to make the competitions stand by their rules of appropriateness. One of the videos posted on this thread was of a little girl dancing at a competition. And that was tame!

The dance competitions have little girls dressed worse than pageants, wearing more makeup, and doing moves that make our dad's faces turn red and leave the theater.

We only promote age appropriate dances and costumes at our studio and have actually gotten thanks on our score sheets for it. But some of the numbers we see can be quite shocking. And usually the kids are good dancers, so those numbers place high and then others think you have to do that type of thing to win.

Anyway, that is another thread, but just wanted to add into what was stated.

Well at least the dancing involves.. dancing. Not just standing there pouting in a bathing suit for some, as yet undetermined, reason.
