AN aspiring young model from Burnley is on top of the world after reaching the finals of a prestigious competition.
Twelve-year-old Sasha Bennington will join 39 other girls from all over the UK at The Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool, on March 7th, for her chance to be crowned Miss Teen World.
If successful, the Shuttleworth Community College pupil will be whisked to the Bahamas where she will compete against girls up to the age of 19 from all over the world.
Sasha became the first British child to take part in a children's beauty pageant in Dallas when she travelled there with her family last April. "Sasha: Beauty Queen at 11", which was shown on BBC3 in July, showed how the youngster and her parents, Jane Harris and Martin Bennington, along with brother Max, coped in America.
The brother-and-sister duo are no strangers to beauty contests having finished third and fourth in the Mr and Miss Great British Isles in 2006. Sasha also appeared in a documentary in 2007 entitled "Too Much Too Young: Teen Body Obsession".
Her mum Jane said: "We are really looking forward to this competition. I am very proud of her and to get through to the last 40 girls is amazing. This is a good experience for Sasha and she is really excited."
The young star will take part in an English national dress segment as well as a bikini and evening ball gown section. Bronze Goddess beauty salon in Burnley is also backing the youngster and providing her beauty treatments.
Sasha and Max are also to feature again on the BBC as they will be filmed for a documentary surrounding the Little Man and Miss pageant on Saturday, March 21st.
