Raisins are full of sugar, a lot of dried fruit is.

Last year I gave out super sour candies, but this year I'm even more pissed off at the bogan bastards on my street. I'm tying my gate closed, putting on headphones and playing a hidden mystery pc game tonight. Hopefully my car survives the egging and keying

^Really? I've only ever once had kids come knocking for Halloween and the mother of one of them organised a group to go around to selected houses in the street - she canvassed the neighbourhood beforehand and told people it was up to them whether they wanted to join in and our houses wouldn't get egged if we didn't. I bought a big box of Cadbury Favourites, handed out about half and ate the rest. But otherwise it's not common for groups of rugrats to go wandering around the streets here.

However, one year we were in Wollongong for Halloween and the whole town was out trick or treating. But I suppose there's nothing else to do in Wollongong.

This is Western Australia - there's nothing else to do anywhere in the state!

So it's basically like Wollongong but about 8,000 times the size? Actually Wollongong has some nice beaches but the enormous steelworks spewing toxic fumes kind of spoils the ambience.

    How about pennies?
I used to hate getting boxes of raisins and pennies (this isn't the 50's!). Even in the 80's pennies were frowned upon.

LOL I remember a woman who did that, she wrapped them up in packets of five.

We miss it because we both love to take our daughter out. No candy here. I was thinking of leaving a plastic bowl outside with treats, but it'll be gone after the first kid or two.

I think this lady should just keep her door shut and her lights off. Little kids want to fit in and how embarrassing for them to be the one in their group to get the note and not a piece of candy.

^^ Right. Can you imagine if this became a trend and chubby kids sat out Halloween night because they knew they were too fat to trick or treat? Bullshit.

I'm eating halloween candy right now btw. I'm saving fat kids.

Yk, we are giving out organic lollipops, because that is what I would want my own kids to have. We are bought some Halloween themed pencils that come with huge, detachable erasers on them, for the kids who can't (for whatever reason) eat the candy we are handing out. I don't feel like it's my place to tell anyone that they can't have what we are giving out, that is up to their parents. My kids trick or treat and then we use the candy to decorate ginger bread houses at Christmas time. They are fine with that, there is no shortage of decent chocolate in my house.

I always felt gypped when I got these peanut butter striped candies too.

I actually like both of those, but I never got them for Halloween.
