Hmm that could be partly because prostitution is not regulated? Like illegal prostitutes put themselves in a vulnerable position unlike in say Germany as Gator mentioned or I think Netherlands (is that where Red Light District is?) where it's regulated, prostitues are monitored and protected. e.g. I saw on TV once how there was a security cam and an alarm in a brothel rooms so that if the John was to beat the prostitute up, it will be recorded and reported and also I think it is required that the men wear condoms and the women get tested regularly for STDs etc.

Alright, I will give you props Mushy, many serial killers do frequent prostitutes. Because no one misses a dead hooker, disposal people is how most serial killers term them.
