I always felt SO sorry for people when I stepped onto the plane with a baby / toddler; I could see the panic in their eyes.
Same with taking a little one in a good restaurant. Mine was always good as gold-we wouldn't have put up with it. The saddest thing is that more than once, some poor waiter would compliment us on his good behavior. You just knew they had been tortured a lot. That is sad. There is no excuse for poor parenting.

She didn't have any diapers in her carry-on luggage? How long of a flight is it from Amarillo to San Jose? I'm not a mom yet, but I don't think I would leave the house without any diapers.
